I am Maria Crutcher Professor of International Relations at the University of Southern California, with appointments in the Departments of Political Science and International Relations, and East Asian Languages and Cultures, and also in the Marshall School of Business. I am also Director of the USC Korean Studies Institute, and Vice-Chair of the Department of Political Science and International Relations. I am also the proud father of two awesome children, one a budding authoress, the other who lives to play soccer.

My research focuses on East Asian international relations, regional security, Korean politics, and the international relations of historical East Asia.
