This set of short videos provides an overview of North Korean society. I discuss how North Koreans view themselves; some awful misconceptions and assumptions we have about North Koreans themselves, and discuss what I'm calling "Confucian North Korea," or their particular culture and national narrative. I hope this helps people move beyond caricatures of North Korea to a true understanding of what that country is like and why it has survived for so long.

In these videos, I discuss how international relations worked in historical East Asia. Contrary to much conventional thinking, the European experience is not universal across time and space (*koff* Peloponnesian War *koff*). Hopefully, I am not just provocative, but also thought-provoking and provide some new ideas about how different regions of the world might be...different (and also similar, too).
